Todd is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for GoPro Inc., a global consumer electronics and software company with over 20 offices worldwide. In this position, Todd is responsible for developing and executing the company's cyber-security program, consisting of cloud services, software development, and camera and drone IoT security. GoPro is believed to be one of the world's largest 'cloud-only' companies. Prior to GoPro, Todd spent time at two consulting firms, KPMG LLP, and Forrester Research. In both positions, Todd led Information Security Consulting Practices. Prior to these consulting gigs, Todd was the VP & CISO at Warner Bros Entertainment in Burbank, California. At the same time, Todd also had the pleasure of serving Warner Bros as the VP of Enterprise Architecture, and was responsible for architecting and securing the transition from and entirely insourced the IT model to one that was entirely outsourced and off-shored. Prior to Warner Bros, Todd spent 8 years at AMGEN, headquartered in Los Angeles, where he served as the Company’s Chief Information Security Officer. Early in his career, Todd learned the fundamentals of information security as a Naval Officer managing some of the Navy’s largest telecommunication systems. Todd received his Masters in Telecommunications from the United States Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and his Bachelors from the University of Hawaii. Todd is also an Adjunct Professor at California Luther University, where he’s taught computer science courses since 2001. Todd has also served as a Board member of the Ventura County YMCA, and was a Big Brother in Orange County’s Big Brother-Big Sister Program.
According to recent RSA conference, 80% of the CISO’s surveyed said they were “looking for new opportunities.” Why is that number so high? Is the IT Security job inherently difficult? Are CISO’s doomed for failure? Are hackers going to get in no matter what we do? Todd Barnum, CISO at GoPro, will lead an engaging discussion on how to best guard against cyber breaches without creating a “hostile work environment.” Todd will explore how to best integrate security into business processes, and include in the daily lives of all staff members. Join this session as we explore whether your CISO has taken the right approach to security, and if your CISO has the right capabilities to succeed.
